In accordance with Australian copyright law, a person who owns copyright of a work/artwork has the exclusive rights to produce copies of that work. The copyright owner may also allow others to make copies of their work. To legally produce copies of another person’s artwork, you must have the express permission of the creator/copyright holder. It is your responsibility to ensure you have this permission. Hound & Bone will not be held liable for any breach of copyright that you may commit in copying any material that may be owned by another person.
We reserve the right to ask that we see written permission from the copyright holder/artwork creator should we have any doubts about the ownership of the artworks we are asked to produce prints of. If you copy a work that is protected by copyright and do not have permission to make copies, you may be sued by the copyright holder – even if you are only copying a small part of the entire work.
File Management & IP
As a print business we are entrusted with sensitive, valuable materials on a daily basis – and it’s our job to treat those materials carefully with the utmost respect. It’s our job to understand what we can and can’t do with those materials.
When you place a print order with Hound & Bone, you will be asked to acknowledge that any files you send will be filed in Hound & Bone’s archives, unless you expressly opt-out.
At no point do we have the right to use your files/IP for any purpose other than the work we’ve been contracted to do.
If we want to feature your work on our social media, we will ask for your consent before sharing anything.
Order turnaround times
Fine art printing ranges between 3 and 10 business days, depending on the number of prints. We can give you a better estimate when we know the particulars of your order. Raw scans are typically completed within 1 business day, and art reproductions range between 5 and 14 business days, depending on the size and volume of work you need digitised. Please note that if you have a large body of work requiring scanning, it may take up to 3-6 weeks. Again, we’ll have a better idea of turnaround time when we have some details from you.
Please note that from time to time, unexpected situations may arise that delay our print/scan schedule. If we encounter technological failures or other unforeseen complications, we cannot guarantee to always meet deadlines. While we do our best to plan for such scenarios, we suggest allowing plenty of time for your order to be completed.
All orders are sent via Australia Post eParcel and require a signature on delivery. We use Momentum Messenger for same-day Melbourne metro deliveries (on request). Extra large parcels will be sent via courier – options and pricing will be discussed with you when you place your order.
Alternatively, orders can be picked up from our studio. When your order is ready, we’ll get in touch to arrange a time for pick-up.
If you choose to collect your prints from our studio, we will send you a link to our collections calendar. Collection times must be arranged with us – please do not turn up unannounced.
If you are picking up prints in person, please bring along something to pack your prints in. Alternatively, packing materials (mailer boxes and tubes) are available to purchase from us.
Packing of orders
Sheet prints are packed individually in archival plastic sleeves. Roll prints will be cut to the size specified by you when ordering, and will be delivered rolled in archival poly film. Prints smaller than A2 are sleeved in archival polypropylene sleeves and mailed inside a custom-sized mailer box. Larger prints are rolled carefully in an archival poly film and shipped in strong mailing tubes.
Handmade fine art materials can be subject to manufacturer imperfections, however, we implement stringent colour management practices and custom ICC profiles to minimise the effects of these imperfections. If you have any questions prior to placing your order, get in touch – we’re very happy to run through all your options.
Handling of original artworks
While all possible care is taken when handling and storing original artworks, we cannot take responsibility for incidental damage or accidental damage. While it is very unlikely that any damage will occur, and all possible measures are taken to protect artworks, we cannot guarantee that artworks involving very delicate, transferable or unaffixed/unsecured media will always return to you in their original state. By leaving artworks in our care, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions.
Payments and refunds
You’ll receive an invoice when your order is confirmed. All advertised prices include GST.
Orders less than $500 must be paid in full prior to print commencement – once paid, your job progresses to our print queue.
Orders over $500.00 require a 50% commencement deposit. Once the commencement deposit is paid, your job progresses to our print queue. The balance is due upon completion of your order.
We take payment by direct deposit, Stripe, PayID or EFTPOS. All work must be paid for before it leaves the studio, unless otherwise agreed.
If your payment is more than 14 days late, a late payment/dishonour fee will apply for every week your invoice remains overdue (to the sum of 10% of your total invoice, per week).
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. We endeavour to make all our prints to the highest possible standard and will work with you to resolve any problems, should they arise.

We only ask for personal information when we truly need it to provide a service to you. We collect it by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent.

Hound & Bone will, from time to time, receive and store personal information you submit to our website, provided to us directly or given to us in other forms.
You may provide basic information such as your name, phone number, address and email address to enable us to send you information, provide updates and process your product or service order.
We may collect additional information at other times, including but not limited to, when you provide feedback, when you provide information about your personal or business affairs, change your content or email preference, respond to surveys and/or promotions, provide financial or credit card information, or communicate with our customer support.
Additionally, we may also collect any other information you provide while interacting with us.

Hound & Bone may use personal information collected from you to provide you with information about our products or services. We may also make you aware of new and additional products, services and opportunities available to you.
Hound & Bone will use personal information only for the purposes that you consent to. This may include to: (a) provide you with products and services during the usual course of our business activities; (b) administer our business activities; (c) manage, research and develop our products and services; (d) provide you with information about our products and services; (e) communicate with you by a variety of measures including, but not limited to, by telephone, email, sms or mail; and (f) investigate any complaints.
If you withhold your personal information, it may not be possible for us to provide you with our products and services or for you to fully access our website.
We may disclose your personal information to comply with a legal requirement, such as a law, regulation, court order, subpoena, warrant, legal proceedings or in response to a law enforcement agency request. If there is a change of control in our business or a sale or transfer of business assets, we reserve the right to transfer to the extent permissible at law our user databases, together with any personal information and non-personal information contained in those databases.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the European Union
Hound & Bone will comply with the principles of data protection set out in the GDPR for the purpose of fairness, transparency and lawful data collection and use.
We process your personal information as a Processor and/or to the extent that we are a Controller as defined in the GDPR.
We must establish a lawful basis for processing your personal information. The legal basis for which we collect your personal information depends on the data that we collect and how we use it.
We will only collect your personal information with your express consent for a specific purpose and any data collected will be to the extent necessary and not excessive for its purpose. We will keep your data safe and secure.
We will also process your personal information if it is necessary for our legitimate interests, or to fulfil a contractual or legal obligation.
We process your personal information if it is necessary to protect your life or in a medical situation, it is necessary to carry out a public function, a task of public interest or if the function has a clear basis in law.
We do not collect or process any personal information from you that is considered “Sensitive Personal Information” under the GDPR, such as personal information relating to your sexual orientation or ethnic origin unless we have obtained your explicit consent, or if it is being collected subject to and in accordance with the GDPR.
You must not provide us with your personal information if you are under the age of 16 without the consent of your parent or someone who has parental authority for you. We do not knowingly collect or process the personal information of children.
Your rights under the GDPR
If you are an individual residing in the EU, you have certain rights as to how your personal information is obtained and used. Hound & Bone complies with your rights under the GDPR as to how your personal information is used and controlled if you are an individual residing in the EU
Except as otherwise provided in the GDPR, you have the following rights: (a) to be informed how your personal information is being used; (b) access your personal information (we will provide you with a free copy of it); (c) to correct your personal information if it is inaccurate or incomplete; (d) to delete your personal information (also known as “the right to be forgotten”); (e) to restrict processing of your personal information; (f) to retain and reuse your personal information for your own purposes; (g) to object to your personal information being used; and (h) to object against automated decision making and profiling.
Hosting and International Data Transfers
Information that we collect may from time to time be stored, processed in or transferred between parties or sites located in countries outside of Australia. These may include, but are not limited to Australia.
We and our other group companies have offices and/or facilities in Australia. Transfers to each of these countries will be protected by appropriate safeguards, these include one or more of the following: the use of standard data protection clauses adopted or approved by the European Commission which you can obtain from the European Commission Website; the use of binding corporate rules, a copy of which you can obtain from Hound & Bone’s Data Protection Officer.
The hosting facilities for our website are situated in Australia. We reserve the right to refuse to provide you with information that we hold about you, in certain circumstances set out in the Privacy Act or any other applicable law.
Security of your personal information
Hound & Bone is committed to ensuring that the information you provide to us is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure information and protect it from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.
Where we employ data processors to process personal information on our behalf, we only do so on the basis that such data processors comply with the requirements under the GDPR and that have adequate technical measures in place to protect personal information against unauthorised use, loss and theft.

When you come to our website (https://www.houndandbone.com.au), we may collect certain information such as browser type, operating system, website visited immediately before coming to our site, etc. This information is used in an aggregated manner to analyse how people use our site, such that we can improve our service.
