H&B mid-year maintenance break – 15th to the 22nd of June (inclusive)
- If you need prints before we close, we’ll need your order no later than June 9, 10am. Ordering will be closed after this date, and will re-open again on June 22.
- If you need artwork reproductions before we close, we’ll need your artwork no later than June 1. We will not be accepting art reproductions jobs after June 1 as we cannot guarantee completion before the 14th – but we can book you in for when we return to work, in the week beginning June 22.
Hound & Bone COVID-19 Service updates
There are reported delays with Australia Post, though for the most part we’ve found that parcels have been tracking on time.
DHL is reporting that international carriers are experiencing significant issues and delays. Some countries have temporarily suspended incoming freight or have issues due to postal backlogs and/or flight cancellations, causing delays of up to 15 business days in some cases. If you need a parcel sent internationally, just let us know the destination country and we can advise whether or not DHL are able to deliver there at this time. More information can be found on DHL’s website.
We’re still receiving lots of enquiries asking if we are still operating. The answer is yes, we definitely are!
We are fortunate to live and work in the same building, which means we have no commute and can isolate while (safely) continuing to work. The majority of our services can be ordered online – as many of you will already know, we have a robust online ordering system that will help us all through the next few months of isolation/potential lock down. Thank dog for technology!
We really miss chatting with you all, but we are now offering phone consults in lieu of face-to-face consulting. We know there are some things you just can’t do on the phone though, so we can mail out paper samples right to your door, or even organise test prints for you.
We intend to continue working as long as we possibly can, but have (and will continue to) modify some services in line with Government recommendations.

We are receiving a high volume of inquiries concerning one matter in particular, so we wanted to post our response here to let you all know our game plan. Understandably, the most common question is whether we will be ceasing operations due to COVID-19.
The answer is a resounding no. We will continue running H&B as long as we possibly, and financially, can.
However, we will need to keep on our toes and think laterally throughout the tricky times we have ahead of us. We have and will continue to adapt so that we can work within the new circumstances we’ve all found ourselves in. As many of you will know, we’ve already made some changes to the ways we work (dang it – we really miss chatting with you in the studio!) and things will most likely continue change yet. But we WILL be here for our clients, and will continue to give you our all for as long as we can.
Over the coming months we’ll do our very best to be as communicative and open about how things are going here, and what our plans are as they evolve. At the moment, our focus is on developing new procedures and offerings that will help us all roll with the punches that the next few months are going to bring. Lemons = lemonade 🍋 ✨

Hound & Bone COVID-19 Action Plan
We will be conducting all consults by phone rather than in person. Print collections and artwork drop-offs can still be conducted in person, though pardon us if we don’t shake your hand!
For enquiries and all other communication, we prefer contact by phone or email (or post/courier, if you need to get artworks to the studio).
We have increased the frequency of cleaning, including door handles and all equipment used in the studio. In addition to frequent hand washing, all studio staff wear gloves when handling prints and packaging materials and are in the practice of sanitising both our hands and computer equipment regularly.
Mail out orders
In accordance with directives from Australia Post, the ‘signature on delivery’ option is no longer available while COVID-19 remains a risk to our communities. As such, we will be removing the ‘signature on delivery’ option from our parcels by default. This reduces person-to-person contact for both you and your delivery person, which is critical at this time – especially for those who are unwell or are at a higher risk of contracting the virus. From Australia Post:
“In all cases, whether a driver or postie delivers to the door or a customer goes in to their local Post Office to collect a parcel, our staff member will ask and record the customer’s name and sign on their behalf.
The customer will still need to be present for this to occur, but contact will be minimised by either leaving the parcel at the door until the driver or postie has left the premises or left for the customer to pick up on the counter. “
We are facing an unprecedentedly difficult time, especially as a small business. We sincerely hope you’ll continue to support our studio, as well as the many other small businesses who will be finding the next few months particularly hard.
